Strengthening commercialization, innovation strategy, and ecosystem partnerships.
Montreal, Canada, November 25, 2025 — Innovobot announced today that Mark Weber, Ph.D., P.Eng. has joined the company as Director, Intellectual Property and Licensing, to reinforce the company’s commercialization engine and deepen its connectivity across the innovation ecosystem. Mark will support the Lab’s technology roadmap, Innovobot’s investment activities, and the growth of portfolio companies by shaping a cohesive IP and licensing strategy.
Mark brings more than two decades of experience in product development, advanced engineering, technology transfer, and research commercialization. His career includes leadership roles at NOVA Chemicals, Afina Energy, Terragon Environmental Technologies, and thirteen years at McGill University, where he served as Director of Innovation and Partnerships, Director of Technology Transfer, and Associate Director of Invention Development and Entrepreneurship Assistance.
In his new role, Mark will lead Innovobot’s intellectual property and licensing strategy, oversee the protection and commercialization of technologies developed within the Innovobot ecosystem, and build stronger pathways for collaboration with universities, research networks, patent partners, and early-stage innovators. He will also work closely with portfolio companies to adopt Innovobot’s open innovation licensing model and help guide technology and market roadmaps across human-machine interfaces, robotics, AI, IoT,and advanced materials.
Mark’s appointment news follows the recent announcement that Innovobot Resonance Ventures (IRV) has been awarded a $3M investment mandate by the Eurêka Fund, managed by Investissement Québec. While this mandate strengthens Innovobot’s engagement with Québec’s research community, Mark’s contribution reaches beyond this work, supporting the platform’s broader global ambitions in technology creation, commercialization, and strategic partnerships.
“Innovobot brings together the parts of innovation I care about most: advanced technologies, commercial product development, and the ability to turn research into impact. I look forward to building an IP and licensing strategy that supports Innovobot’s growth and strengthens our connections with partners across industry, academia, and the startup ecosystem.” Mark Weber, Director, Intellectual Property and Licensing, Innovobot.
“Mark’s experience is a strong complement to our engineering and innovation teams. He understands product development from industry, and he understands IP strategy, licensing, and research translation from academia. His leadership will help us evaluate technologies more effectively, guide founders, and explore new opportunities in advanced materials and other emerging areas.” Danny Grant, Chief Technology Officer, Innovobot.
Mark holds a Ph.D. and M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from McGill University and is a licensed professional engineer. His career spans leadership roles in product development, process engineering, and the commercialization of advanced technologies across the chemical, energy, environmental, and deep-tech sectors. At McGill, he led the development of the McGill Innovation Fund, contributed to major research investments, and oversaw significant growth in licensing outcomes and university spin-offs.
