Jon Gilman came to Innovobot Labs with a bold vision, relentless energy, and no intention of slowing down. Two and a half years later, as he stands on the verge of launching his product, he’s grateful someone pushed him to pause and build it the right way.
“You need someone who really knows how to take the concept to prototype to production. That’s what you get with Innovobot.”
Jon Gilman, Entrepreneur & Inventor
The challege
Jon Gilman has always been a builder: an entrepreneur, an inventor, someone who has already launched products, chased ideas, and learned what it takes to turn a concept into something real. But his latest idea was different. For years, a concept had been taking shape in his mind: a simulator combining physical hardware, electronics, and sensors, built for demanding real-world environments. More complex, and higher stakes than anything he’d tackled before.
He knew he couldn’t build this one alone. A referral from an intellectual property attorney led him to Innovobot. Jon reached out, got a call from Erin Ramsay, and as he puts it: “that’s where it all began.”
The shift
Like many founders, Jon was used to moving fast and staying in control. Working with Innovobot required a different approach. The early tension wasn’t conflict: it was adjustment. Over time, watching how the team operated, something shifted.
“You have to understand that when you work with people who are experienced, who know more than you do, your ideas aren’t always the best way about going about things.”

What changed was trust. Instead of pushing for speed, Jon began to see the value of Innovobot’s structured approach: one built around reliability, iteration, and long-term performance.
“The relationship builds, and you begin to have more faith and trust in the individuals you work with. It was hard at first to accept that things had to be done in a very strategic sort of way. But I started to see that the people at Innovobot had a system: a way of getting the job done that was both efficient and effective.”

The result
What started as a concept is now a fully developed, field-tested product. Over ten iterations, the team worked through every technical challenge: Bluetooth connectivity, load sensors, hardware tolerances; until what remained was rock solid.
10+
completed development iterations, including 3 led by Innovobot Labs
100 users
engaged in real-world testing, generating actionable feedback
50+
structured user testing sessions
“Literally hundreds of people have been on the device. It’s been tested numerous times, and it’s proven itself. At this point, there’s no doubt in my mind that this is a winner of a product.”

Built for the long term
Mass production is now the next milestone!
“I think we’re on the way to making a product that will perform and have a long life in the commercial world.”

More than engineering
For over two years, Jon worked with the Innovobot team entirely remotely; Innovobot
in Montréal, Jon in Los Angeles. When he finally visited the office in person, the connection was immediate.
“This is a family. These are people who I feel like we are a team. They are doing everything they can possibly do to make me succeed, and I am working to give them every bit of information I can to allow them to get the job done.”

A process worth trusting
“I recognize the smarter way is to do it the Innovobot way. Experience speaks volumes and I’ve seen Innovobot direct me in the right way, time and again.”
